It was a day of carnival capers, cotton candy dreams, and turning fun into funds at the 2nd annual Emory Glen County Fair, benefiting the Magnolia Education Foundation. Thanks to the enthusiasm of over 500 attendees, we raised an impressive $5,000 for the organization which is dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for local students.
Our county fair was a sugar-filled wonderland, where 147 free cotton candies and 167 free popcorns were the currency of joy. It was heartwarming to see parents and children soak in the sights, indulging in all the sugary, buttery goodness.
Let’s talk about rides — because let’s be honest — no county fair would be complete without them. Thrill seekers turned in 1,120 ride and game tickets, so it was clear no one could resist the siren call of an adrenaline rush. Among the most popular rides were the Tubs of Fun, which delivered spins at (not quite) breakneck speeds, and the Pirate’s Revenge, where kids and adults could live out swashbuckling fantasies — minus the risk of sea sickness. The Bungee Jumparoo was for the adrenaline junkies who didn’t think a pirate ship ride was thrilling enough. Let’s just say that gravity had a day off.
There were also pony rides, chair swings, a corn maze, balloon pop, limbo dancing, lawn games, and so much more. Eighty-eight guest faces became canvases for our face painters and our balloon artist was kept busy creating over 100 balloon animals. Meanwhile, our DJ spun upbeat tunes that kept the energy flowing all day long.
No fair is complete without food, and ours was no exception! Four food trucks tantalized taste buds with hot chicken, stone oven-fired pizza, Kona Ice, and delightful funnel cakes. We especially loved the funnel cakes which were powdered sugar-covered wonders on a plate.
Retail therapy was available for guests as well. More than 20 merchants turned Emory Glen into a shopper’s paradise with booths full of handmade crafts, artisanal goodies, and quirky knick-knacks.
At the end of the day, our county fair showcased how a community can come together for a shared cause while having an absolute blast. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us!
